LdV ToI WITE-Women in Technical Education

Dieses Projekt ist gefördert durch:

CUOA

The project aims at promoting technical education in particular towards a female audience, whose characteristics and attitudes effectively responds to the professional needs of manufacturing companies, resulting in substantial job opportunities. The goal is ambitious because it aims at a real change of mentality. The school choice might focus on ability, merit, interests, considering the existing gap between demand and supply of Italian graduate technicians
.

The project implementation starts with a context analysis to investigate the situation where the innovations will be trasferred. Two environments are investigated, the labour market and the education/guidance system. To investigate the former, some interviews will be led with women having a technical responsibility role in technical companies and with their human resources managers. To investigate the latter, questionnaires and interviews will be done with female pupils and teacher, especially teachers with guidance role, in the last year of the middle school and in the first two years of the secondary school. This survey phase is useful to have a feedback and analysis the innovations to receive. Moreover, the partnership will have important elements for the study visits in the transferring countries (Germany and Austria).

After the study visits the action plan for the transfer of the innovations will be drawn up. The experimental phase takes place in Italy in the partner institute ITIS Rossi. An evaluation and subsequent identification of criticism and adaptation suggestions will be collected in a report to be distributed in the final conference

Other European countries are in the same situation for similar reasons: a non sufficient young orienteering policy , the school can’t follow the market changes, the industrial policy is not linked to the training policy. Promotion of technical training can be pursued even through an increase of girls enrolment to technical institutes, as girls normally have the proper skills and capabilities to satisfy the request of manufacturing industries.

Ausbilder

The manufacturing sector is so technologically advanced that roles and positions are not only for man or only for women. It is therefore necessary a mind changing focusing on the high school choice based on skills, value and the interest for the subjects as there is now a gap of 110.00 unit between request and offer of graduated Italian technician.
The project aim is to improve the quality and the appeal of the technical training system in the involved countries, transferring the innovation existing in some partner countries: Germany and Austria.

Italy, Poland, Holland and Hungary represents, on the other hand, the countries trying to learn these new and successful instruments and initiatives in order to increase the number of girls attending technical institutes helping them starting a career once only for men.
In particular orienteering initiatives and tools will be imported in order to:

• offer girls and their families information about technical training and its advantages in this economical context strongly based on the development and growth of manufacturing industries and their socio-economical context;
• offer girls supporting instruments to think about their aptitudes and the training offer of the high school
• create cooperation networks amongst middle schools - high schools – work sector, to promote technical training in the territory, particularly towards girls that have the skills to satisfy exactly the request of the work market.
In Italy this project is coordinated by Fondazione CUOA and transferred in the Veneto Region through the Regional body, Vicenza Industrial Association and the Technical Institut (high school) "Rossi" of Vicenza, that are involved in experimenting new initiatives and instruments of other European Country.

In particular, Vicenza Industrial Association and Technical Institut (high school) "Rossi" are part of the "Club dei 15" (Club of 15 Italian provinces with the highest levels of industrialization), could spread and promote the project in Italy in cooperation with Federmeccanica and thanks to the cooperation agreement that they signed in 2010 with the Ministry of Education.

Projektlaufzeit:

01.10.2011 - 30.09.2013

Projektziel:

The project idea comes from the awareness that in order to promote the Country development and competitiveness it is necessary to reconsider the social value of the industrial work and to promote the technical and scientific training that has recently lost appeal compared to classical training.

Partners from Italy, Germany, Austria, Hungary, Poland and Holland are active in Veneto Region to stimulate the dissemination of good practice on guidance about the choice of school. To achieve the goal innovative tools developed by partners from Germany, IHK, and Austria, University of Krems, will be transferred and tested in Veneto.

Development and competitiveness require in Italy a consideration of the new industrial work and the technical and scientific training, which in recent years has lost appeal compared to gymnasium.
